Maximizing Leverage in your IT Negotiations

 Virtual - Participate from Anywhere

September 29, 2020 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm Online

Join ClearEdge Partners and your peers in IT, IT Sourcing and IT Finance across the top companies in Canada to discuss the state of IT Deal-Making, including current trends and observed best practices for optimizing IT costs and mitigating future risk.

ClearEdge helps clients develop a more strategic approach to IT investments by aligning internal teams and focusing efforts on maximizing leverage throughout the life-cycle of supplier relationships. The results are clear: clients gain a competitive advantage over their IT suppliers, free up millions of dollars from status quo spending on legacy solutions, and can re-direct their IT investments toward IT modernization, digital transformation, and cloud migration.

Agenda

1:00 - 1:15 pm

Mike Fearon

Welcome & Introduction

We’ll review the agenda and set the stage for our discussion with opening remarks including the unveiling of key findings from a recent survey of top IT and IT Sourcing execs at ClearEdge clients which highlight current trends, best practices and challenges in IT Deal-Making.

1:15 - 2:00 pm

Impact of COVID-19 on IT Spending

The Coronavirus pandemic has forced organizations to change rapidly and adapt to a new economic landscape. Though some are halting projects and slashing spending on nonessential services and applications, the crisis has increased demand and accelerated adoption of other solutions. The swift move to a remote workforce and need for new virtual user experiences have forced planned IT digital transformations to happen sooner than expected. In turn, IT deal makers are being asked to do more, faster, and often with fewer resources, as they balance the competing demands for new solutions and immediate cost take out. This session will highlight areas of concern and opportunity across spend categories including HW, SW, IT Services, and Compliance.

Optimizing Telco Expense

Research shows up to 20% of the charges in your current agreement are incorrect and of these inaccuracies, 85% favor the carrier. Furthermore, the majority of organizations pay their bills in full without review. These practices add up to significant waste in telecommunications infrastructure and provide a quick win to reduce your opex when inspected thoroughly. Does your organization have consistent, effective processes and procedures for reviewing and managing telecom invoices against contractual agreements and actual usage? Are you prepared to negotiate your next wireless or wireline deal without having a handle on your current usage?

Understanding & Mitigating Risk in IT Contracts

Poor contract language can cause the best negotiated IT deals to go sideways, or become a thorn in the side of any IT change event such as Digital Transformation, Cloud Migration, Data Center Relocation, or Change in Control. This session will provide a framework for assessing contracts and highlight real examples of where things can go wrong.
